Laraque is Full of Sits
My apologies if anyone hasn’t seen the new Burger King advertising campaign…
Georges Laraque was scratched last night when the Dallas Stars visited the Phoenix Coyotes. I am not surprised.
He has yet to step up physically, or otherwise since the first game of the season. He said earlier in the year that he would protect his new teammates. I only saw that in the first game.
So far, the other teams are taking advantage of the weakened psyche of the Phoenix Coyotes, and have tried to push them around only to have other players push back, such as Nick Boynton (especially on Saturday night taking on Stars Matthew Barnaby), Derrick Morris, and Josh Gratton.
Last night in the Coyotes loss, Laraque was not missed, but if the scratch served as a wake-up call for him to get better, then it was an excellent move by the Coyotes coaching staff.
On Monday and Tuesday the Coyotes travel to the Alberta Province of Canada as they face the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames respectively. If Laraque is inserted into the lineup against his former team it will serve as a true test of where his loyaties are with the respect to the Phoenix Coyotes.
